700,100, 7, 1, 10 ....

I started reading, sorry studying Bhagawadgeeta from Jan 1st - 7 slokas every day. Now, why on Jan 1st only?? and 7 slokas day? Many reasons...

For starters there are 700 slokas in the Song Divine... So, if I consider 7 slokas per day, it would take exactly 100 days to complete it. 100 seems like a great number ... Also the number 7 is very significat in our culture - there are 7 days in a week, 7 sages (Saptarshulu), 7 birth relation (edu janmala-sambandham), 7 steps in a marraige (edu adugulu), 7 raagas (sapta swaraalu), 7 horses of the sun (ratha sapthami, sooraj ka saathwaan ghoda), etc., etc.,

Now, if I start on 1st Jan it would be 10th April (considering 2009 to be a non-leap year) by the time I complete my endeavour - which incidentally is my birthday too !!! Infact every year, I used to brag with my friends that people all over the world celebrate completion of 100 days of new year as my birthday.... !!! sounds interesting, innit??

Anyways, I pray to Lord Krishna that he walks along with me throughout my journey.... Amen !! Now, I will have one more reason to feel happy on my birthday

With that size, it's difficult not to see properly. And what Adarsh said makes sense, since that girth would have taken 31 years for a half rotation. :)
See you soon buddy.
(PS: You can delete this comment, I won't feel bad - just wanted to say something nasty)
