Axing your own feet !!!
Ever heard of this phrase... "axing your own feet"...?? Matlab.... apne pairon pe kulhadi maarna...
I feel that's precisely what Rigved from Mumbai did in his journey towards becoming AMUL VOICE OF INDIA CHOTE USTAAD. His slogans glorifying his birthland.... JAI MAHARASHTRA was very very jarring to the ears especially after the wonderful performances that he gave. After each vote appeal, he would yell out the slogan... (not to forget Abhaas here... I felt that even Abhaas kind of encouraged Rigved in his slogan-baazi), I would have this very uncomfortable feeling that the kid is not doing anything good to help his cause. I agree that we are all influenced by this "local" sentiment. But anybody who would have followed the trends in these talent shows involving public voting would have understood that this "local" sentiment doesn't hold good anywhere in India, barring the north-east perhaps. And to expect that the people of Mumbai(India's very own city that never sleeps !!!) to get behind Rigved and rig him to victory.... is almost blasphemous !!!
Having said all this, I have nothing against Rigved or the cute lil participant from the north-east... they both are bundles and oodles of talent... unfortunately they both haven't mastered the worldly ways... I mean duniyadaari !!! And if you actually ask me, I wouldn't want them also to shed their innocent ways and start playing with emotions... I cried today when Prakriti admitted that she doesn't deserve to to be the 2nd place on the basis of public voting. The kid is absolutely void of malice and ulterior motive... God bless you child !!!
Now that Mansi and Jayant have been eliminated, my bet is between the 2 A's - Aishwarya and Anwesha !!! Wow man... what talent... amazing... awesome... Aishwarya's rendition of Farida Khanum's Aaj jaane ki zidd na karo was out of this world !!! And when you get to know that she hadn't heard the original even once (I'd like to believe her mom when she said that... don't ask me why !!) it just adds much much more to the achievement !!!!! Not that the others are not good, but Vyom needs some more time... but he is pretty much on his way and Soniya has a set genre of songs where she just excels but... versatility is not her forte.... and that's precisely where Anwesha could just steal the show....
