Birth.... Death, ... et al

Yesterday, I was watching a debate on TV about when a man is considered to be born? Is it when he is conceived in his mother's womb as a result of procreation or when he takes his first breath on this earth?

Well, there are many schools of thought. One of them says that its only when he takes his first breath 'cos life is all about breathing. We come on this earth with a preset number of breath cycles and we cease to live after we've exhausted them on this earth. All our Pranayama excercises are to regulate this breath-cycles so as to master our mind. Hence its only when the child is delivered by his/her mother, we say its Birth.

Another set of people defy this. Their argument is .. "What about the period between when the child is conceived and is still in the mother's womb till he is delivered?" And to support that, they quote Mahabharatha where Abhimanyu, son of Arjuna learns how to enter a Chakravyuh while Arjuna was describing it to his wife. If he was not born yet, then how did his ears hear the words and how did his mind assimilate this information?

Well, well.... I dunno. Both sound quite convincing. I need some some additional contextual information to arrive at a standpoint. Till then, let the argument continue... I am learning so many things... Did I complain. Who's complaining anyways.... ??? :-) All discoveries, wise thoughts have arised out of such questions, queries, arguments. So, carry on querying !!

Cheers !!
